Parmarth Niketan is an ashram located in Rishikesh, India. Rishikesh - known as the "City of the Divine" - is a spiritual center to which sages, rishis, saints and pilgrims have flocked for millennia. In India today there are thousands and thousands of impoverished children. See how we are bringing them into the divine Gurukul. Parmarth Niketan hosts daily yoga and meditation classes.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA FESTIVAL - March 1-7, 2008

Each evening ashram residents and visitors join together for the divine Ganga Aarti ceremony - an hour of prayer, song, meditation and divine connection. It is our "happy hour".
Humanitarian Projects Ecology Sanskaras How You Can Help
Humanitarian Projects Ecology Sanskaras All donations to any service of this ashram are greatly appreciated. It is only through the generosity of our guests/pilgrims/visitors that we can continue to feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the homeless and uplift the downtrodden.
Parmarth Niketan is dedicated to bringing health to the sick, education to the illiterate, food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless and hope to the downtrodden. Parmarth Niketan is dedicated to cultivating and awareness of environmental sanctity as well as with the mission of restoring Mother Earth's natural balance. The sanskaras are the "rites of passage" that a person passes through in life - from conception to death. Various sanskara ceremonies are performed at Parmarth Niketan

Did You Know?
The meaning of the mantra on the introduction to this site"

Ishwara paridhana - devotion or surrender to God
This is the final, ultimate commandment of leading a dharmic life. It doesn’t matter what name or what form of the Divine you worship. What matters is that you are surrendered fully to God. Only through living for Him and dedicating all of our actions to Him can we find peace, joy and meaning in life. There is a beautiful mantra in our scriptures which says,

Kaayena vaachaa manasendriyairvaa
Buddhyaatmanaa vaa prakriteh svabhaavaat
Karomi yadyat sakalam parasmai
Naaraayanaayeti samarpayaami

It means, "Oh Lord, whatever I have done, whatever actions I have performed - whether through speech, through thought, through my senses, through my mind, through my hands or through just the nature of my existence - I lay it all at Your Holy Feet. Every aspect of my life and existence are completely surrendered to you."
